The Ship Superintendent will be responsible for managing the successful completion of assigned ship repair projects within predetermined time constraints and funding parameters. They will manage the production of all personnel assigned to ship repair projects through coordination with trade supervisors, and subcontractors. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Successful candidates will
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; college degree in a related Engineering discipline preferred; Maritime college degree and/or domestic or international maritime license preferred; along with a minimum of eight to ten years of related ship repair experience and training. Experience as a marine port engineer required; experience with the US Coast Guard is a plus. Bilingual Spanish is a plus. Strong verbal and written skills required, along with proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word, and Microsoft Project.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear required while on work sites. Work will involve visiting work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year.
