Shipping and Receiving- Ames

Position Overview: The Shipping and Receiving Associate who will also be responsible for building packaging and crates for our products. This role is critical in ensuring that our products are securely packaged and efficiently dispatched to our customers, as well as managing incoming shipments.  

Responsibilities:  

Shipping and Receiving:? 

• Receive incoming shipments, verify accuracy and integrity of deliveries.? 
• Prepare and process outgoing shipments, ensuring timely dispatch.? 
• Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments.? 
• Coordinate with carriers and manage scheduling of shipments.? 

Packaging and Crating:? 

• Design and construct custom packaging and crates for various products, ensuring their safety during transit.? 
• Select appropriate materials and methods for packaging based on product specifications and transportation mode.? 
• Operate tools and machinery safely for packaging and crating purposes.? 

Inventory Management:? 

• Assist in maintaining inventory levels.? 
• Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy.? 
• Organize and maintain the warehouse and shipping area for optimal efficiency.? 

Quality Control:? 

• Inspect products for damage or defects before packaging.? 
• Verify and inspect products against drawings and specification requirements? 
• Ensure that packages are labeled and shipped correctly according to customer PO.? 

Team Collaboration:? 

• Work with production and sales team to optimize shipping and receiving processes.? 
• Communicate effectively with other departments to resolve any shipping or receiving issues.? 

Qualifications:  

• High school diploma or equivalent.? 
• Proven experience in shipping and receiving, with knowledge in building packaging and crates.? 
• Ability to operate tools and machinery used in packaging.? 
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.? 
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.? 
• Capable of lifting and moving heavy items and standing for extended periods.? 

Working Conditions:  

• Warehouse environment, requiring the use of safety equipment.? 
• Regular physical activity, including lifting, bending, and standing.?
