Shipping and Receiving Associate

Position Summary: 

The Shipping and Receiving Associate plays a crucial role in the efficient operation of our manufacturing company by managing incoming and outgoing shipments. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate inventory control, proper handling and packaging of materials, and timely delivery of products to customers and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Receive incoming shipments, verify contents against packing slips or purchase orders, and accurately record received quantities in the inventory management system.


2. Prepare outgoing shipments by packing items securely, labeling packages with shipping information, and arranging for carrier pickup or drop-off.


3. Inspect received and outgoing shipments for damages, discrepancies, or defects, and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.


4. Maintain organized and clean shipping and receiving areas, including storage racks, shelves, and loading docks.


5. Collaborate with other departments, such as production, purchasing, and customer service, to coordinate shipping and receiving activities and resolve any related issues.


6. Assist in the periodic inventory counts and reconciliations to ensure accurate inventory records.


7. Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, safely and according to company procedures.


8. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while handling materials and operating equipment.


9. Keep abreast of shipping regulations, including hazardous materials handling and international shipping requirements, and ensure compliance.


10. Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, including timely response to inquiries and resolving shipping-related issues.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or distribution environment.


2. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a dynamic work environment.


3. Attention to detail and accuracy in recording inventory transactions and inspecting shipments.


4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues, customers, and vendors.


5. Proficiency in using inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).


6. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, and willingness to obtain necessary certifications.


7. Knowledge of shipping regulations, including hazardous materials handling and international shipping requirements, preferred.


8. Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.


9. Positive attitude, team player mentality, and willingness to take on additional responsibilities as needed.

Working Conditions:

• This position primarily operates in a warehouse environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.


• May be required to work evenings, weekends, or overtime during peak periods.


• Must adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment when handling materials or operating equipment.
