Shipping and Receiving Lead

SUMMARY

Picks orders and transfers per daily schedules. Receives in products and places in proper location. Assists the department supervisor as lead person by performing the following duties as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Looks at delivery truck schedule and satellite warehouse schedule to determine the items that need to be moved, gathered, distributed, or put in proper location.
• Loads any satellite warehouse deliveries that need to be delivered in the proper truck. 
• Prepares Bills of Lading for the appropriate satellite warehouse that is ready to be delivered.
• Makes sure all transfers are loaded and all proper paperwork is in the appropriate truck delivering to the satellite warehouse.
• Organizes route order pallets in staging areas to ensure for easy and accurate loading or unloading for trucks.
• Uses computer to check on any orders that are ready for release, verifying correct inventory, checking for any back orders that need to be completed right away, and releasing of orders that are ready to be picked. 
• Verifies that paperwork is completed related to shipping and receiving documents, and checklists, as required. 
• Loads and unloads for delivery or receiving.
• Assists department supervisor in preparing daily activity that needs to be completed in the department. Supervises department when supervisor is not available.
• Make sure all pallets and racks are neat, organized and rotated for easy removal.
• Visually check the department for any safety hazards that might exist and report the situation to the proper person.
• Visually inspects products for any product that has become outdated, damaged, or close to becoming outdated.
• Helps maintain company allergen procedures and product storage
• Adhere to food safety objectives and work to uphold Cadillac Coffee’s food safety and quality system
• Assists supervisor implement, execute, and check SQF documents and projects. 
• Assists Material Handlers in all essential duties.

Requirements

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises shipping and receiving in the absence of department supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COVERAGE

This position is backed by the department Supervisor and Material Handler. This position backs the Supervisor and Material Handler. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
