Shipping Associate

Description

Daily responsibilities will be to stage, load, and unload finished product and raw materials. This can range from cabinets and paper to wire, hardware, and cleaning supplies. This position works closely with our company’s Purchasing department and Operations. This position is expected to learn the products quickly to ensure accurate and timely shipments. 

• Safe operation of fork truck, power jacks, pallet jacks, etc.
• Unload raw materials from truck using various types of lifting equipment (pallet jacks, fork truck, etc.)
• Maintain a clean and safe working area
• Maintain adequate inventory levels of packaging materials and communicate when items need to be ordered
• Work within Epicor (ERP) system for shipping related functions (scanning, attachments, data entry, etc.)
• Clearly communicate between departments and other Simplex locations when a piece of product is ready to ship
• Identify physical product versus the items on the pick list to ensure all items on the pick list are present
• Read and follow written work instructions and procedures
• Assist in the development of work instructions and procedures for shipping related functions as needed
• Accurately complete forms and checklists when required
• Clearly photograph product throughout the packaging and shipping process

Requirements

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong self-discipline and accountability
• Must be able to achieve Certification in safe fork truck operation
• Experience in a related role in a manufacturing environment (2 years preferred)
• Experience working with ERP (preferred)
• Demonstrated successful oral and written communication skills
• Basic computer skills (creating folders, exporting files, attaching files)
• Basic math skills
• Ability to lift 75 pounds with some regularity
• Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, and overhead
• Ability to climb and work from a ladder
• Problem solving skills and ability to work effectively under deadlines
• Physical ability required in accordance with a typical desk/office position 
• Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak) the English language clearly
• Must be able to achieve Certification in safe fork truck operation
