Job Title: Shipping Lead Reports To: Shipping Supervisor FLSA Classification: Hourly / Non-Exempt Shift: 1st Shift; East Location
Job Summary: The Shipping Lead is responsible for being a leadership resource to team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice. The leader is responsible for knowing proper procedures for workers to follow and ensure that they comply with. The leader might be called upon to share special industry techniques on how to use tools and equipment, or tips on how to improve quality or speed of production. The Shipping Lead encourages team effort and supportive attitudes between workers.
Job Responsibilities:
Accurately and efficiently complete necessary steps to ensure orders are shipped according to specifications with visual and computer scanned checks.
Assist in training team members, ensuring all are fully and accurately trained, maintaining all required documentation.
Ensuring all processes are being accurately adhered to by team members.
Collaborating with company, customer, and courier systems to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment and tracking.
Prioritize orders as set by production needs or directed by Shipping Supervisor
Update production database, as necessary and required.
Report shipping progress to Shipping Supervisor throughout the production day.
Maintain shipping schedule for the day, communicate changes to team as needed.
Work with Kitting Lead to ensure necessary materials are available at the time needed to ship orders in a timely manner.
Monitor and report individual production status to Shipping Supervisor
Move and organize workers to meet production flow needs.
Track Orders that cannot be completed, report to customers and request back orders as needed.
Monitor inventory items, restock/transfer inventory as needed, report needed inventory resupply requests to supervisor/inventory personnel.
Communicating with the customer, as required by business needs
Request specialty courier pickups, as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Ability to communicate with other team members and customers.
Must be able to operate a computer, company systems (with training), and Microsoft Office to include Excel.
Good analytical skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Prior experience in distribution and/or pick/pack preferred.
Job Setting / Environment
This position is performed in an environmentally controlled building on active warehouse floor.
