Job Description: Shipping Manager

Reports To: Operations Manager / Plant Manager
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm
We are seeking an experienced Shipping Manager to oversee all outbound logistics and ensure the accurate, timely, and secure delivery of our custom fabricated electrical insulation components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have experience in packaging high-value, fragile industrial components, be capable of building custom wooden crates, and have in-depth knowledge of shipping logistics, freight coordination, and regulatory shipping certifications.
· Lead and manage all daily shipping and logistics operations.
· Build custom wooden shipping crates as needed to safely transport finished goods.
· Oversee packing of products, ensuring materials are protected and secured according to specifications.
· Coordinate shipments via LTL, freight, parcel, and international carriers.
· Prepare and maintain shipping documentation, including BOLs, packing slips, and customs forms.
· Ensure all outgoing shipments meet customer requirements, industry regulations, and company quality standards.
· Maintain accurate shipping records in ERP or inventory systems.
· Work closely with production and scheduling teams to align shipping schedules with order fulfillment.
· Manage carrier relationships to negotiate rates, schedule pickups, and resolve delays.
· Monitor inventory of packing supplies and coordinate procurement.
· Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, and export shipping regulations.
· Train and supervise shipping personnel, ensuring adherence to SOPs and safety practices.
· 3+ years of experience in a shipping or logistics management role, preferably in manufacturing or fabrication.
· Hands-on experience building custom wooden crates and packing industrial parts.
· Knowledge of domestic and international shipping logistics.
· Familiarity with ERP systems and shipping software (UPS/FedEx portals, freight carrier platforms).
· Strong understanding of shipping certifications and documentation requirements (e.g., NAFTA, MSDS, ITAR/EAR, etc. if applicable).
· Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (certification a plus).
· High school diploma or GED required; additional training in logistics or supply chain a plus.
· Familiarity with electrical insulation materials and their handling requirements.
· Experience in a custom fabrication or job-shop environment.
· OSHA 10/30 certification or other safety training.
