Shipping _ Receiving Manger

Job Summary:

The Shipping & Receiving Manager will oversee and manage the shipping and receiving functions of Metal Source and Metal Source Recycling.  

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervises Scale House Clerk, Shipping and Receiving Supervisor and Shipping & Receiving Operators.
• Drives, guides, and influences the day-to day activities of the shipping & receiving team for a single facility.
• Manages overall workflow and expectations for the group.
• Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Builds and maintains a culture for proactive safety, productive, efficient, low-attrition workforce.
• Responsible for clarifying, validating, analyzing, and assuring accuracy for all inventory, material shipped and received.
• Works closely with others (Sales & Marketing Team, Traffic & Dispatch Team and Production Team) to develop and maintain continual flow of material required whether inbound, internal, or outbound, to include the proper turning of inventory volumes to meet production demands and overall company expectations.
• Monitors traffic & shipping to assure we are meeting the customer and vendor expectations, while achieving efficiencies.
• Ability to execute the dispatching instructions deployed from Traffic team.
• Identifies problems and inefficiencies in shipping & receiving processes; presents and implements enhancements and solutions to address these issues.
• Works with Quality team to assure that processes are in place and utilized to meet customer and vendor expectations for quality of material.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by Plant Manager.
• Regular and timely attendance are an expectation of the position.
• Follow the 5S foundations for deploying lean production tools and processes.

• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with truck drivers.
• Proficient with computer-based management systems for inventory and production control, shipping operations, and fulfillment services.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Education and Experience:

• 5-10 years of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain.
• 1-3 years of previous management experience.
