POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shipping Support/Packer is responsible for preparing products for shipment, ensuring that items are packed properly, and organizing shipping logistics. The individual will work closely with the shipping and receiving departments to ensure timely and accurate product delivery while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Product Packaging:

       o Select appropriate materials (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc.) for packing, ensuring items are secure.

       o Package labels with the correct shipping information, including addresses, product details, and any necessary shipping instructions.

• Documentation: 

        o Prepare and maintain shipping records, including tracking numbers, packing slips, and shipping manifests.

        o Ensure that shipping labels are accurate and match customer order details.

• Shipping Preparation: 

        o Assist in preparing finished products for shipping by checking against packing slips, orders, and ensuring that the correct quantity and type of items are packaged.

        o Verify inventory levels and update shipping documents to reflect the correct items.

• Collaboration: 

        o Work with the shipping team to ensure that products are dispatched in a timely manner.

        o Communicate any potential shipping delays or issues to the appropriate departments.

• Inventory Management: 

        o Maintain a clean and organized packaging area.

        o Assist with inventory counts and notify supervisors of any low stock on packaging materials.

Requirements

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCY STATEMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Previous experience in shipping, packaging, or warehouse operations is a plus.

• Ability to operate packaging equipment (e.g., tape dispensers, box cutters, etc.) safely.

• Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking shipments.

• Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in packaging and shipping.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy items (typically up to 50 lbs).

• Strong organizational and time-management skills.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Preferred Skills:

• Forklift certification or experience is a bonus.

• Knowledge of shipping software or tools (e.g., UPS WorldShip, FedEx Ship Manager).

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position involves working in a manufacturing environment that is adjacent to the shop work environment. The employee must be aware of potential hazards, including, but not limited to, working in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, operating vehicles, exposure to electrical current, high temperatures, and chemicals. It's important to maintain a high level of alertness and caution while performing tasks in this work environment.
