Shipping/Receiving

Description

Responsible for processing all received supplies, freight, stock, and other materials. Also responsible for coordinating the transportation, storage, packaging, loading and distribution activities for finished products and materials.

Essential Functions

Shipping

• Follow shipping schedule for finished products and materials.
• Coordinate and assist with the loading of products and materials into the delivery vehicles.  
• Report any questionable conditions to the General Manager.  
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition.
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and safely.  
• Follow all prescribed safety regulations.

Receiving

• Process all incoming deliveries based on a set schedule.
• Distribute received items to the appropriate person or label materials for specific projects/inventory.
• Scan all packing slips/pick tickets into current software used for material management. 
• Follow up with the Purchasing Manager to report defective materials or delivery errors.
• Maintain the work area in a clean orderly condition. 
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly and safely.  
• Follow the prescribed safety regulations.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities 

• Strong attention to detail and safety
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Maintain current Forklift Driver certification
• Capable computer skills

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum two years shipping and material handling experience
• Previous woodworking or related experience a plus

Physical Requirements

• Regularly require the ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach
• Regularly require the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Periodically require the ability to lift a minimum of 80 pounds
• Periodically require the ability to lift a minimum of 100 pounds
• This position will occasionally require the stamina to climb on and off of the forklift machine throughout the day.
• Must be able to safely tolerate heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
