Job Description - Shop & Equipment Coordinator

Description

The Shop and Equipment Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites, helping drive cost-efficiency, reduce project delays, and enhancing overall operational performance. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-equipped shop, coordinating the mobilization of resources, and managing preventative maintenance for company-owned equipment and vehicles. Additionally, the Shop and Equipment Coordinator contributes to the company’s professional image by maintaining organized facilities and ensuring seamless logistics support. Their work has a direct impact on safe working environments, project efficiency, cost control, and overall client satisfaction.

AREAS OF FOCUS   

  1. Equipment and Material Coordination (50%) – Coordinates with project teams on material and rental equipment needs, directly supporting the productivity and efficiency of field operations.
  2. Preventative Maintenance and Repair (20%) – Supports and coordinates preventative maintenance for company-owned tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  3. Shop and Yard Coordination (15%) – Maintains a professional and organized shop and yard environment, ensuring facilities support efficiency and reflect the professional standards of Elder Construction.
  4. Unplanned Work (15%) – any unplanned work that may arise from projects, people or process. 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

Equipment and Material Coordination 

The Shop and Equipment Coordinator ensures the functionality, utilization and accessibility of RDR-owned assets in order to support successful construction operations. They optimize equipment usage in order to help minimize downtime and drive cost efficiency.

  1. Supports jobsite preparation with mobilization/ demobilization of materials and equipment to and from job sites.
  2. Includes logistical coordination such as the delivery of fuel, equipment, materials, ground-breaking supplies, and other necessary resources. 
  3. Includes the timely removal of tools, equipment, and materials, appropriate storage, and necessary maintenance to prepare the asset for future use.
  4. Maintains an organized inventory, status and location of equipment and materials.
  5. Facilitates delivery, proper handling, documentation and communication of equipment and materials to support field productivity.

Preventative Maintenance and Repair

Conduct and/or coordinate regular preventative maintenance on company-owned equipment and vehicles to ensure they remain in operational condition. 

  1. Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance for fleet vehicles that are unassigned, waiting to be assigned and pool-utilized vehicles. 
  2. May occasionally travel to assist with picking up or delivering fleet vehicles. 

Shop and Yard Coordination

Ensure the shop and yard are consistently clean, organized, and well-maintained to promote safety, efficiency, and ease of access to tools, materials, and equipment.

  1. Maintain clean, organized, functional shop and storage yard. 
  2. This includes supporting the organization and functionality of both shop locations. 
  3. Perform preventative maintenance on shop-dedicated equipment and vehicles.

Unplanned Work

When not committed to primary duties, provide on-site labor or support as requested by project teams, including assistance with material handling, equipment delivery, or other operational needs, as well as any other unplanned work.

FIELD: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The team member is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel.
  • The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

FIELD:

  • While performing the duties of this job, this position regularly works outdoors in various weather conditions. The team member frequently works near moving equipment, occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
