Shop Forman

Job Summary:

The Shop Foreman is responsible for managing the daily operations of the shop, supervising staff, ensuring quality control, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to optimize shop processes to enhance productivity and service quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hire, train, supervise, and motivate shop staff while providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Ensure repairs are performed efficiently, correctly, and in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
• Oversee all repair work to ensure it meets company quality standards and minimize rework or comebacks.
• Maintain high service standards to ensure customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
• Prepare department budgets, manage shop inventory, and coordinate with ownership or general management.
• Ensure the shop adheres to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and safety guidelines.
• Provide technical guidance and support to technicians when needed.
• Monitor job progress, meet deadlines, and resolve operational challenges as they arise.
• Maintain a safe work environment by enforcing safety procedures and ensuring adherence to company policies.
• Identify and implement new processes and procedures to improve shop operations and efficiency
• May work in workshops, outdoor construction sites and would need to be mobile.
• Will be involved in BIT inspections and audits.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in diesel truck and heavy equipment maintenance.
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing major vehicle components.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Experience working with DOT and OSHA compliance standards.
• CDL Class A license preferred.
