We’re currently seeking a Shop Laborer to join our team!
Job Summary Earth Work Solutions is seeking a reliable and hardworking Shop Laborer to support our maintenance shop operations. This entry-level position will assist the maintenance team with shop maintenance tasks, shop upkeep, and other related duties. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, eager to learn, and capable of performing physically demanding work in a shop environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform general labor tasks in the shop, including cleaning, organizing, and moving tools and equipment
Perform sandblasting and pressure washing on equipment and shop survaces as directed to maintain cleanliness and prepare surfaces for maintenance or repair
Load, unload, and transport materials, parts, and supplies within the shop
Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including sweeping, disposing of scrap materials, and performing routine shop maintenance
Operate basic hand tools and shop equipment under supervision
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and shop rules
Perform other duties as assigned by the Welding Superintendent or maintenance staff
Required Skills and Abilities
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Ability to work well as part of a team
Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in equipment maintenance
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities in a shop environment
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
Prior maintenance or shop experience, preferred but not required
Previous experience with tools, equipment, or mechanical work is a plus but not necessary
Certifications and Licenses
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to obtain PEC/SafeLand, First Aid/CPR, H2S, and MSHA, along with any other site specific training requirements.
Work Environment
Work is performed both indoors in the maintenance shop and outdoors on equipment as needed, including exposure to varying weather conditions
Exposure to shop hazards, including noise, dust, and moving equipment
Work may include long periods of standing, lifting, and walking within the shop
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required
Physical Demands
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift materials up to 50 pounds or more with or without assistance
Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
Ability to safely move equipment and tools in the shop environment
Schedule
Monday through Friday, typically 8-10-hour shifts, depending on shop needs.
Overtime, night shifts, and weekend work may be required to meet production and maintenance demands.
