Job Mission

Your primary objective is to ensure a safe, orderly, and efficient shop environment capable of executing projects that meet our expected margin targets and are completed on time.

The Shop Manager reports to the Director of Production and collaborates with the Project Managers, Technical Designers, Shop Project Foremen, CNC Operators, 3D Printer Operators, and Director of Project Development

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promote and foster company core values by championing the Guiding Principles 
  
  
  • Oversee shop team/supervise all aspects of fabrication, finishing, and fulfillment
  
  
  • Develop and maintain diverse roster of talented and qualified fabricators 
  
  
  • Make hiring and staffing decisions as required to execute projects with an eye to project deadlines
  
  
  • Seek to resolve disputes and personnel issues within shop team
  
  
  • Create and maintain an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the shop

  • Oversee and maintain safety processes and expectations in the shop and on installs
  
  
  • Oversee shop flow and logistics, including space planning and tooling inventory & acquisition
  
  
  • Develop logistical plans for shipping and strike of projects
  
  
  • Identify and propose strategic expansion opportunities for Figure Plant’s internal capabilities and quality
  
  
  • Develop and implement maintenance plans for all shop equipment, tooling, and vehicles
  
  
  • Delegate tasks to Shop Steward or other appropriate party, including maintenance & janitorial tasks, errands & deliveries, processing of returns, forklift operation, etc.
  
  
  • Participate in Kick-Off, Fabrication Strategy, Drawing Review, Retrospective, and other meetings
  
  
  • Maintain required certification and recordkeeping programs for forklift and gantry crane operators, as well as respirator certification.
  
  
  • Develop and/or maintain clear SOPs for shop processes

  • Execute or delegate regular maintenance of all tools, equipment, facilities, and vehicles; coordinate repairs as needed
  
  
  • Coordinate material ordering and tracking
  
  
  • Uphold and maintain level of QC set by DoP
  
  
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop and tool room
  
  
  • Manage shop waste in as sustainable a manner as possible (reduce, reuse, recycle), including proper disposal of hazardous materials. 
  
  
  • Utilize periods of client project down time to focus efforts on continued process development, personal skills training, FP internal projects, and facilities upgrades
