Shop Mechanic - Transmountain Equipment

Working Title: Shop Mechanic

Supervisor: Equipment Manager

General Description of Position: Repairs vehicles, equipment, and machinery located at our shop in south Austin.

Essential functions and responsibilities listed below:

• Crawls under or climbs in or on vehicles or equipment for maintenance and repair inspections


• Repairs, removes, replaces moving parts and other components of vehicles, equipment or machinery


• Disassembles, repairs, removes, and replaces parts of engines, transmissions, drive assemblies, brakes, clutches of vehicles, equipment or machinery


• Tunes, adjusts, regulates equipment engines, valves, pumps, carburetors and other mechanical components with variable setting


• Lubricates and services vehicles, equipment or machinery and maintains accurate record of such service


• Requests repair parts and lubrication supplies as needed


• Helps workers of other crafts when not engaged in lubrication, service, maintenance and repair work


• When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor

Specific Equipment and Materials to be used: Operate hand tools to repair equipment or machinery

Safety Policies and Practices: The employee in this job must be knowledgeable about and follow the company’s safety policies and procedures as described in the company’s safety manual.

Other Requirements: Must have current valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record.

Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Experience and Training: Diesel experience desired, but we will train if needed, certificate from college or technical school; or twelve months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
