The Shop Rental Technician is responsible for maintaining the reliability and safety of our rental forklift fleet. The primary responsibilities include conducting detailed inspections upon the return of forklifts, swiftly diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and executing timely repairs to minimize downtime and ensure rapid turnaround. You will meticulously document all inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, while simultaneously ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements, and internal quality standards.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of forklifts upon return from rental to identify any damage, malfunction, or needed repairs.
  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance tasks such as replacing parts, adjusting systems, lubricating components, and conducting system tests to ensure proper functionality.
  • Document and submit accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance tasks performed on each forklift.
  • Coordinate with rental administrative staff to prioritize repairs based on rental schedules and customer needs. Provide technical advice and support as needed.
  • Completes all assigned company training in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced, technology driven, service environment.
  • Possess strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with management and customers.
  • Willingness to work overtime.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work is performed in various locations, including warehouses, distribution centers, manufacturing plants, refineries and hospital settings. Employees may work with co-workers’ side-by-side with a moderate level of activity being performed. Exposure to high voltage AC/DC power is very common in many work environments. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
