NOV Artificial Lift is seeking an experienced Shop Technician to join our team at our Midland, TX facility. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs) and related artificial lift equipment.
We are looking for a safety-focused, dependable technician who can work effectively in a fast-paced shop environment while maintaining high standards for quality, accuracy, and workmanship. Previous experience working with ESP equipment and following established assembly and testing procedures is required.
· Independently perform inspection and testing procedures to verify products meet applicable SOPs and quality requirements.
· Safely operate applicable automated high-pressure and high-voltage testing equipment.
· Independently inspect, test, prepare, repair, and rebuild qualified ESP components.
· Troubleshoot common component failures and abnormal test results within assigned areas of technical competency.
· Recognize out-of-specification conditions and determine appropriate next steps within established procedures.
· Load, unload, move, stage, and properly handle ESP equipment using forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment.
· Pull and prepare equipment for inspection, testing, repair, rebuilding, and shipment.
· Perform assembly, repair, rebuilding, and reconstruction activities on qualified ESP product lines.
· Maintain accurate documentation associated with inspection, testing, repair, and product movement.
· Collaborate with inventory personnel to conduct cycle counts, identify discrepancies, and maintain inventory accuracy.
· Maintain and reinforce Company 6S expectations within assigned work areas.
· Assist with the training and development of Technician I employees and new hires in basic shop practices and qualified technical tasks.
· Participate in cross-training to expand technical capability across additional ESP components and product lines.
· Complete all work safely and follow applicable safety requirements in support of the NOV Safety culture.
· Complete and actively participate in all required HSE training.
· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
· 2–3 years of relevant ESP equipment experience or 3-5 years of mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, oilfield, or shop experience, or demonstrated equivalent competency.
· Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude.
· Ability to independently perform standard inspection, testing, handling, and repair processes on qualified product lines.
· Ability to identify and troubleshoot common product and testing issues.
· Ability to read and comprehend SOPs, work instructions, technical documentation, and correspondence.
· Strong work ethic, dependability, attention to detail, and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively within a team and assist in developing less-experienced technicians.
Technical Expectations
·Strong knowledge of at least two ESP product lines, including motors, pumps, and seals, with the ability to test, inspect, handle, repair, and rebuild components.
