Whitaker Construction, founded in 1953, has over 70 years of experience in the heavy civil and underground utility construction industry. Whitaker, an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company, has become one of the largest contractors in the intermountain area with more than 600 employees and nearly 70 crews. We perform sanitary sewer, storm drain, culinary water, irrigation, earthwork, roadway construction, dams, landfills, natural gas pipelines, industrial piping, and telecommunication projects primarily in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon.
The Shoring Foreman is responsible for overseeing all activities related to the yard stockpiling, inventory, inspection, maintenance, shipping and receiving of shoring systems to construction sites. This role ensures that all shoring operations comply with project specifications, safety standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities of yard crew involved in shoring shipping, receiving, yard inventory and shoring maintenance.
Interpret construction site shoring orders, and engineering specifications to ensure proper equipment is sent to the job site.
Ensure all shoring equipment is correctly inspected and cataloged for maintaining structural integrity and safety.
Conduct site inspections to verify site inventory and implement corrective actions for damaged or missing equipment promptly.
Liaise with site engineers, project managers, and safety officers to align shoring activities with project needs.
Monitor crew performance, ensuring compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and local regulations.
Manage the inventory of shoring materials and equipment, coordinate with Equipment Dept. managers for the procurement of supplies in a timely manner.
Train and mentor crew members in safe and efficient shoring practices.
Maintain daily logs, reports, and documentation of shoring operations.
Respond promptly to emergencies or failures in the shoring system.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (technical training or certification in construction or civil engineering preferred).
3–5 years of experience in construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role related to shoring or structural support.
Strong understanding of different types of shoring systems (e.g., hydraulic, timber, aluminum, trench boxes).
Knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment (e.g., loader, skid steer, forklift, excavator).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and load-bearing calculations.
Knowledge of local building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety procedures.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Physically fit and able to work in demanding outdoor environments.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification
First Aid/CPR
Certified Competent Person for Shoring and Excavation
