Job Location: 215 W. Chicago Ave. Chicago, IL 60654

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $55,000 - $60,000 Salary

The Showroom Assistant Manager plays a critical role in the daily success of Lightology's flagship Chicago showroom. This position is responsible for leading day-to-day operations, ensuring every aspect of the showroom—from customer service and visual merchandising to inventory, receiving, events, and showroom presentation is executed to the highest standard.

Working in partnership with the Sales Manager and cross-functional teams, the Showroom Assistant Manager creates an organized, efficient, and inspiring environment for both customers and employees. Success in this role requires a hands-on leader with an ownership mindset, strong organizational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities while continuously improving the showroom experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the showroom to ensure an organized, efficient, and customer-focused environment.
  • Lead the customer service team, providing coaching, guidance, and support while helping resolve escalated customer issues.
  • Partner with the Sales Manager and cross-functional teams to support showroom operations, staffing, scheduling, and team development.
  • Plan, execute, and maintain visual merchandising throughout the showroom, creating compelling product displays that showcase new collections, support sales initiatives, and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, mentor, and help develop showroom and customer service staff.
  • Maintain showroom presentation, merchandising standards, cleanliness, and overall visual appearance.
  • Oversee inventory accuracy, receiving, warehouse organization, storage, and inventory movement throughout the showroom.
  • Coordinate with the showroom electrician to ensure lighting displays are installed, maintained, and functioning properly.
  • Process and oversee transactions including sales, returns, exchanges, correction orders, and inventory adjustments.
  • Ensure pricing accuracy and approve discounts or order exceptions within company guidelines.
  • Partner with Marketing to coordinate and execute showroom events, ensuring all logistics, merchandising, staffing, and showroom preparation are completed to the highest standard.
  • Partner with internal departments to improve operational processes, communication, and the overall customer experience.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and well-maintained showroom and warehouse environment.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support business operations.

 What we're looking for

  • Ownership mindset—you take responsibility for outcomes, not just assigned tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Calm, professional approach when handling challenges or changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships across departments.
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves wherever needed.
  • Comfort receiving direct feedback and continuously improving.
  • Commitment to delivering an exceptional customer experience.
  • Experience with events
  • Background or knowledge of interior design, or luxury retail is preferred but not required.

Why You’ll Succeed

You'll be successful in this role if you enjoy taking ownership, creating structure, and making things better every day. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, naturally notice opportunities for improvement, and take pride in delivering exceptional experiences for both customers and teammates. You're equally comfortable leading a team, solving operational challenges, and rolling up your sleeves to help wherever needed.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience supervising retail, showroom, hospitality, or customer service operations.
  • Previous leadership experience with responsibility for daily operations and team development.
  • Experience with inventory management
  • Merchandising, design or similar experience
  • Experience using ERP or retail management systems preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
  • Available to work Saturdays
