Phoenix Sign Studio is seeking an experienced Sign Maker to join our team. The ideal candidate is a professional, self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellence. Attention to detail, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously are key. Responsibilities
- Design and produce a wide variety of signs from inception to completion
- Operate and maintain large format printers, cutters and laminators
- Prepare and apply vinyl graphics to various substrates for sign production
- Manage and track electronic and paper records related to jobs
- Answer phones and take messages, providing excellent customer service
- Consult and interface with customers to ensure their signage needs are met
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of manufacturing/production area
- Perform simple in-shop installations and occasional on-site installations
- Prepare mock-ups and propose effective materials for sign projects
- Assist in maintaining company signage equipment
- Learn and adapt to new technologies, skills and techniques to enhance sign-making proficiency
- Ensure timely completion of print production tasks
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a professional sign maker in design and production
- Expertise in vinyl creation, application, and operating large format digital printers, plotters and laminators
- Knowledge in color management
- Proficiency in using Adobe Design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and RIP software
- Experience with pre-flighting and creating proofs from client artwork
- Knowledge of sign fabrication methods and materials
- Ability to create shop drawings and layouts for permits, fabrication and installation
- Strong design creativity and attention to detail
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a professional and polished demeanor with coworkers, customers and vendors
- Ability to read, interpret and follow work orders accurately
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to propose effective materials for sign projects
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects effectively
- Strong math skills for measuring and pricing
- Able to lift and move inventory items and finished products as needed
- Valid driver's license and ability to perform on-site installations
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement in sign-making skills and techniques
Desirable Qualification
- Vehicle wrap installation experience
- Certified installation professional (3M, Avery, etc.)
