Summary
Creative Sign Company, a prominent sign manufacturing company, is seeking a talented Sign Painter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the painting and finishing of various types of signage, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have experience painting in the sign or manufacturing industry, an eye for detail, and the ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation of custom, high-quality signs for a wide range of clients.

Key Responsibilities

Job Duties:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming materials to ensure proper paint adhesion.


• Apply paint to signs using brushes, spray guns, or stencils, ensuring smooth, consistent coverage.


• Use various painting techniques to achieve the desired finishes, including specialty coatings and effects.

• Follow design drawings to accurately paint custom signs.


• Measure and cut stencils or apply masking for precise, clean lines.


• Ensure each sign meets design specifications and quality standards.


• Ensure the paint department operates efficiently by minimizing downtime and reducing waste. Execute tasks effectively, operating at maximum efficiency while maintaining product quality.


• Mix and match paint colors, including custom color mixing, to match client requirements.  Confirm all colors painted match their color books or provided samples to ensure customer color expectations are met.

• Correct any imperfections in the paint job, touch up areas as needed, and ensure overall consistency in quality.

• Document all time and materials thoroughly and properly.


• Document any changes or deviations from original paint specifications.


• Monitor inventory levels of paint materials and supplies and ensure timely replenishment.

• Ensure regular maintenance of paint booths, tools and machinery to ensure maximum efficiency and quality of production and to ensure longevity of the booths, tools and machinery. 

Culture & Communication:

• Communicate with internal teams (fabrication, ADA, graphics, channel letters and routing) to ensure timely completion of sign painting and maintain workflow efficiency.

Safety & Compliance:

• Follow all safety procedures and company policies when using paint equipment, tools and machinery.


• Adhere to safety standards while working with paint and solvents.


• Ensure the safe handling and proper storage of materials and chemicals used in painting.


• Participate in regular safety training sessions and adhere to OSHA regulations.


• Wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in designated areas.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.


• Additional training or certification in sign painting or related fields is preferred but not required.


• 2+ years of experience in sign painting.


• Familiarity with different types of paint, coatings, and application techniques.

Skills:

• Excellent attention to detail.


• Ability to read and follow design specifications.


• Proficient in using paintbrushes, spray guns, and other painting tools.


• Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.


• A team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to quality work.


• Any service or hospitality industry experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move materials up to 75 lbs.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including standing, bending, and operating painting tools for extended periods.


• Comfortable working with materials and chemicals used in sign painting.
