JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 The Simulation Educationalist for the Center for Healthcare Improvement and Patient Simulation (CHIPS) provides curricular and assessment guidance for simulation educational activities related to the Program. This position works collaboratively with the leadership and staff of the Program along with faculty across the institution to ensure evidence-based clinical standards and simulation best practices are reflected in all simulation activities.



Responsibilities
  1. Assists faculty and community clinical partners to establish simulation-based educational curricula and courses based on current simulation standards and evidence-based practice.
  2. Designs, develops, writes, edits, and evaluates simulation case materials including educational needs assessment, outcomes, case content, facilitation, and SP/embedded participant guidelines, and prebriefing/debriefing plans. 
  3. Ensures all simulation experiences are appropriately designed, documented, implemented, and evaluated.
  4. Consults with the Directors in the development of various metrics and assessment tools.
  5. Manages multiple concurrent educational projects regarding case design, piloting and dry run implementation, mentoring support, and assessment of facilitators.
  6. Provides mentoring, educational support services, and resources for faculty/facilitators in the development of simulation-based educational projects across all disciplines.
  7. Works independently on highly complex simulation educational events.
  8. Directly supports and assists in the delivery of simulation experiences.
  9. Assists in the collection of educational assessment data and utilizes this data in post-event quality improvement discussions with sim facilitators.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

EDUCATION: 

Master's degree in a healthcare-related field or education related field. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: 

Three (3) years of experience in an education or healthcare field with experiential learning implementation/simulation implementation; OR bachelor’s degree in education or healthcare-related field and five (5) years of experience in an education or healthcare field with experiential learning implementation/simulation implementation; OR a combination of education and experience to equal nine (9) years. (Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and/or Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred.)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of simulation pedagogy, best practices and standards. 
  • Skills in simulation design and implementation. 
  • Ability to communicate professionally to both individuals and groups. 
  • Ability to work concurrently on several projects while maintaining details and meeting deadlines.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 

This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
