Job Description:

This position will support the US Army’s Modeling Simulation Battle Lab (MSBL) at Fort Leonard Wood MO by designing, developing, and testing subsystem for simulation and training systems.

The Simulation Software Engineer is responsible for applying effective team leadership techniques and utilizing industry-standard methodologies (such as ISO 9001:2015, CMMI) and various development methods (including High-Level Architecture, Waterfall, Spiral, and Agile) to design and develop sophisticated software systems for trainers. They will contribute to enhancing corporate design capabilities and standards while guiding the software technical efforts of the engineering team. This role involves researching and applying a wide range of software architectures (such as run-time architectures, SAAS), mathematical models, system modeling techniques, graphical models, and programming techniques. The Engineer will utilize these skills to design, develop, maintain, and enhance innovative products and solutions for simulation and training.


Job Summary:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software subsystems, focusing on critical components, using object-oriented languages, scripts, and libraries under supervision.
  • Assist in technical software activities across the system development lifecycle, including design, development, peer reviews, testing, issue resolution, and documentation.
  • Assist in configuring and managing the Simulation Environment.
  • Support the development or modification of US ARMY One Semi-Automated Forces (OneSAF) software behaviors and/or entities as required for simulations supporting experimentation and technical integration events.
  • Participate in the execution of simulation events following the Model & Simulation Support Plan (M&SSP). Events may run sequentially.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, such as Project Engineer, Program Manager, and other team members.
  • Provide training and support to simulation users in performing their roles and resolving issues as needed.

Requirements:

Experience with One Semi-Automated Forces (OneSAF) software is not required but highly desirable!

Job Requirements:

  • At least one year of experience with Cloud Computing Environment (AWS/AZURE)
  • Experience with DevOps and Cloud Platform as a Service (PaaS)
  • Advanced knowledge of .NET/Core and SQL Server
  • Knowledge of: Microsoft IIS web servers, system/software accreditation, IA compliance, HLA, DIS, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Must be willing to travel 10%.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a software and hardware engineer.
  • BS degree or equivalent professional certification desired in Computer Science or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Must be familiar with security best practices.
