Job Description - Site Director

OBJECTIVE:
To coordinate and oversee the daily operations of a Rooftop of Virginia CAP Head Start Center by following regulations provided by but not limited to; Office of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Department of Education Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers, Child and Adult Care Food Program.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
A. Operational Oversight
a. Maintain, at all times, high-quality child-care standards based on developmentally appropriate practices.
b. Point of contact for ALL visitors; Inspectors (Fire, DOE, Health, etc.), Maintenance, etc.
c. Complete internal site and operational inspections.
B. Classroom Oversight
a. Assist Education Manager and Program Director to monitor classroom operations.
b. First point of contact, during assigned hours, for staff.
c. Modeling staff expectations.
d. Assist in implementing onboarding process for all new staff at the center.
e. Ability to provide classroom coverage to maintain standards and ratio (for example, breaks).
C. Monitoring
a. Fidelity of PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) implementation
b. Data entry of site
c. Compliance of CACFP
D. Performing duties requested by Head Start Management Staff
III. UNIVERSAL STANDARDS:
A. Communication
1. Ability to communicate (in-person and electronically) with staff, superiors, community officials, families effectively and appropriately.
B. Cultural Competence and Ethics
1. Positive, caring and supportive attitude characterized by understanding and non-judgmental commitment to participant families, coworkers, superiors, and all other persons with whom interaction occurs.
2. Comply with all Standards of Conduct and Confidentiality Policies as these are considered of the utmost importance in working with community residents.
C. Organization
1. Ability to manage time, energy and workspace well in order to accomplish all assigned tasks successfully.
D. Reporting
1. Ability to complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports.
a. Weekly – Monitoring Forms
b. Bi-Weekly - Timesheet
c. Monthly – Center Checklists
E. Health and Safety
1. Ability to squat, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, hear, see, speak, and lift and/or carry at least 40lbs.
2. Knowingness of possibility to exposure of blood, bodily fluids, or tissues
3. Knowingness of possibility to exposure of communicable diseases
F. Technology
1. Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) proficient.
2. Willingness to train in program and agency data management systems
G. Professionalism
1. Ability to casually present oneself.
2. Accountability – Timely, Attendance
3. Team Oriented
4. Possess problem solving skills.
5. Continue to expand knowledge by attending trainings, etc.
IV. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. Have three months of programmatic experience and, at minimum, have or willingness to obtain (within one year of employment) one of the following education backgrounds:
a. A one-year early childhood certificate in early childhood education from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours;
b. A child development credential by an organization listed in § 22.1-289.048 of the Code of Virginia;
B. Willingness to complete/continue trainings/certifications
V. ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES:
A. Knowledge of the Office of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Department of Education Standards for Licensed Child Day Centers, Child and Adult Care Food Program Operations, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)
VI. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
If you are Bilingual (fluent in Spanish) and it is deemed necessary for your position by CEO, COO, and Head Start Director, additional compensation may be given.
