JOB TITLE:     Site Director, Exempt  

DEPARTMENT:    Club Services

REPORTS TO:    Director of School-Based Clubs

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Since 1891, Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) has provided high-quality, community-based youth development services to youth in San Francisco and beyond. Position Purpose

Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco (BGCSF) will run an on-site comprehensive out of school time program at The Bayshore Elementary School (BES).  Through this partnership, BGCSF will ensure that BES students have high quality academic support, enrichment activities, and recreation programs. The goal is for BES students to build healthy habits, and gain the academic and personal knowledge necessary that prepares them to be productive, responsible, and caring adults.

The framework for the partnership is built on the following objectives:  Student Access and Opportunities, Student Engagement and Student Development.  Goals include increasing student engagement and connection to BGCSF, providing non-academic skill-building opportunities, and offering youth development opportunities and prosocial experiences for students both on and off campus.

The Site Director is expected to provide high-level leadership and oversight. This position supports team management, program delivery, outcome measurement, strategic partnerships, risk management, and fiscal management. The Site Director is key to ensuring the site’s emergency and crisis management plans, opening/closing procedures, safety and risk assessments, incident reporting, volunteer management, and strong caregiver pick up protocols are in place and being followed. 

The Site Director will manage all staff members and will be managed by and work collaboratively with the Springer Clubhouse Director for enhanced opportunities for BES students.

KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES):

Program Facilitation and Oversight: 40%

  • Design programs/activities based on the needs and interests of students ensuring the effective execution of on site recreational and enrichment activities for BES students.
  • Conduct program orientations for both youth and families, and maintain monthly conversations with families and the school community.
  • Work in close collaboration with the school principal and teachers to align programs with the regular school day that support the school’s goals for student development and academic achievement.
  • Meet weekly with Clubhouse leadership to ensure alignment of partnership goals and objectives. 
  • Transport BES students in Club vehicles or on public transportation, as needed, to ensure Club members’/students’ safe passage.

Leadership/Management: 30%

  • Drive program excellence at BES.
  • Provide direct management and leadership to a four-person team to ensure a positive learning environment; ensure that staff are properly trained in program planning, norms and standards for professionalism and are meeting desired expectations and outcomes.
  • Manage and communicate day-to-day scheduling and activities.
  • Model, and re-enforce a strong School-Based Clubhouse culture with staff and youth members.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, screen, and hire staff when necessary.
  • Execute plans as needed to ensure the BES is meeting the goals outlined in BGCSF’s strategic plan.
  • Maintain great communication and have a growth mindset regarding all day-to-day issues related to the partnership.
  • Collaborate with BGCSF’s  other school-based Site Directors, sharing best practices.
  • Ensure BES is  adhering to the high standards of maintenance, safety, and cleanliness.

Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations: 15%

  • Ensure and promote program visibility within BES and within Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco.
  • Develop, assess, and maintain partnerships that lead to consistent average daily attendance, deepen and/or diversify program offerings, and increase site programming capacity through effective use of partner agencies or volunteers.
  • Work closely with the BES leadership to offer Out of School programming for BES students.
  • Actively participate in and support school-wide events, such as family night/s, back-to-school nights, and more. 
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all school stakeholders.
  • Maintain weekly conversations with school leadership (Principal, Community School Coordinator, etc…).
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of the Club’s 360-degree evaluation process (i.e. parent surveys, youth evaluations and self-evaluations from staff team) for the Clubhouse to assess youth development practices. 

Administrative: 15%

  • Respond promptly and professionally to all program and information inquiries.  
  • Manage accurate and timely collection of attendance and participation data by accessing the MyClubHub database on a daily/weekly basis; analyze the data for any inconsistencies or incomplete entries and cross reference actual numbers to goals.
  • Gather data, conduct observations, and use assessments and feedback for ongoing program evaluation and improvement. Track and meet all deadlines for report submissions.
  • Reconcile budgets and track expenditures. Purchase, manage, and track inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Develop and maintain a program calendar in alignment with BGCSF and BES needs/requirements
  • Complete other duties as deemed necessary by the Director of School-Based Clubs

Requirements

 

Required Skills

  • Strong people and relationship management skills.
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years of equivalent youth development experience working with grades K - 8th.
  • Familiarity and experience working in or with schools and with community based organizations. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the best practices in youth development program planning, curriculum development, methods of teaching, and evaluation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and to multi-task and successfully handle competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to pass a background check and TB test clearance. 
  • Red Cross/CPR certification (or within 90 days of employment). 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working with TK students.
  • Clean DMV record and ability to drive a 10-passenger van. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours consecutively. 
  • Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods of time.

Pay

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs.  At BGCSF,  our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on circumstances for each position.  Depending on the need and requirement of the position,  an individual could be hired at or near the entry level, mid - level or top of the range for their role and compensation.  As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $68k - $70k; with an option for more hours over the summer.
