Definition Under the direct supervision of the Early Childhood Education Director, the Site Supervisor Support is responsible for ensuring the overall supervision, quality, and compliance of an assigned site. This role includes oversight of the care and development of children ranging from infants to kindergarteners, ensuring adherence to the California Department of Education Early Learning and Care Development (ELCD), Title 5 Funding Terms and Conditions, and Title 22 regulations. The Site Supervisor Support provides ongoing monitoring and support to site staff, including Teachers, Teaching Assistants, and Volunteers/Interns, while also participating as a member of the enrollment team. In the absence of the Early Childhood Education Director, the Site Supervisor Support will receive and respond to directives from the Community Care Licensing Analyst and conduct on-site inspections as needed.
Responsibilities
Monitor assigned classrooms to ensure developmentally appropriate planning, supervision, and program implementation in compliance with California Department of Education (ELCD), Title 5, Title 22 guidelines, and agency policies.
Ensure that each teacher completes weekly child observations, maintains individual portfolios, and compiles child journals.
Ensure timely and accurate completion of child assessments (DRDP) for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, in accordance with established timelines.
Oversee the development of individualized short- and long-term goals for each child, collaborating with the teaching team and parents.
Observe classrooms to verify that programming meets the individual developmental, cultural, linguistic, and learning needs of each child.
Assist in the observation and referral process for children suspected of having special needs; collaborate with support staff and parents as part of the Student Study Team and Behavioral Plan development.
Support the creation of weekly learning plans for children with IEP or IFSP, utilizing DRDP Access.
Review and provide feedback on bi-monthly lesson plans; submit curriculum material requests to the Early Childhood Education Director within designated timelines.
Conduct monthly ECERS/ITERS evaluations and Child Development Monitoring Reports for assigned classrooms; establish reflective supervision content for staff development.
Monitor classroom environments to ensure appropriate arrangement, design, and upkeep of learning materials and equipment.
Review and forward site supply and work repair requests to the Facilities Coordinator as needed.
Conduct weekly health and safety inspections; submit work and repair requests within one working day of identifying health or safety concerns; address site needs accordingly.
Share housekeeping responsibilities equally as required.
Participate in parent-teacher conferences as needed (e.g., IEP concerns, 60-day transition meetings, follow-up on unusual incident reports).
Participate in program evaluations (DRDP, ECERS, ITERS, CACFP, Child Development Monitoring Report) and contribute to the development of monthly Plans of Action.
Provide input on annual staff evaluations and conduct reflective supervision in a timely manner.
Serve as a mentor to Teachers and Teaching Assistants to enhance instructional practices and classroom management; lead staff orientations as needed.
Serve as a substitute teacher when necessary.
Facilitate staff training as required (e.g., Creative Curriculum, Desired Results, ECERS, Pre-K readiness).
Participate in Foundation and community events as assigned.
Attend scheduled meetings and trainings (e.g., PAC, SPAC).
Distribute necessary information (e.g., newsletters, flyers, training materials, PAC notices) to staff and parents in a timely manner.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Studies or a related field.
Valid Site Supervisor or Director Permit (or eligibility to apply for permit).
Minimum 6 units of Infant-Toddler coursework and completion of an approved Infant-Toddler Training Program.
Valid Site Supervisor Permit, with at least 5 years of preschool teaching experience and 2 years of supervisory experience.
Completion of 8 hours of Health and Safety training.
Completion of Mandated Reporter, CPR, and First Aid Training.
Proficiency in oral and written English; bilingual ability preferred.
Computer literacy and familiarity with basic software applications.
Must pass physical examination, TB screening, and background clearance prior to employment.
Employment Period Based on funding award from the California Department of Education. The Site Supervisor Support’s contracted period extends up to 250 days per fiscal year.
Salary & Benefits The Site Supervisor Support will be compensated based on the Adopted Salary and Benefits Schedule approved by the Board of Directors. Pursuant to the Employee Handbook and based on funding availability, Site Supervisor Support will be afforded to Health, Dental, and Vision. In instances of termination or voluntary resignation, employees will be afforded continuation of benefits based on the regulations outlined within COBRA.
Performance Evaluation The Site Supervisor Support will be evaluated by the Early Childhood Education Director formally and informally to provide continuous feedback for staff development and growth. Program Quality Review Reports will be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director to monitor program quality.
