The Hoy Center at Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay takes a holistic approach to skilled nursing care and aging. Our person-centric living aligns the delivery of care with individual needs and preferences. The Hoy features home-like, comfortable settings, which we call Lighthouses, each with a family room and e-concept kitchen. The Skilled Nurse Manager promotes a culture of support and demonstrates practices consistent with the mission, philosophy, standards, policies and procedures of the Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay community. What You’ll Do In This Role



  • Responsible for assigning and delegating clinical and managerial responsibilities to nursing staff and allocating nursing staff to manage and address the clinical needs of the residents in The Hoy Center.

  • Ensure that nursing staff in The Hoy Center comply with community policies and procedures.

  • Ensure practices are consistent with regulatory healthcare requirements.

  • Understand and have familiarity with Assisted Living Regulations, to help support Enhanced Services as needed.

  • Collaborate with the Director of Nursing (DON) and communicate concerns and assist with resolution.

  • Collaborate inter-departmentally to communicate, address and resolve concerns.

  • Consult with the DON regarding disciplinary actions.

  • Responsible for investigating and providing assessments and recommendations for all incidents and accidents.

  • Participate and assist in the survey process in HealthCare conducted by regulatory agencies.

  • Make written and oral reports to the Director of Nursing.

  • Follow up on all investigations in the skilled units.

  • Participate in evaluation and ensure timely and appropriate assessment of residents.

  • Communicate resident concerns to physicians, as necessary.

  • Ensure The Hoy Center staff are implementing care plans, performing care activities appropriately, and recognizing and assessing changes in residents' status.

  • Assure pharmaceuticals, equipment and supplies are available as needed.

  • Assist in problem resolution between staff, residents, families and visitors.

  • Ensure problems and complaints are managed for resolution in a timely and appropriate manner and reported to the appropriate department.

  • Participate in discharge/transfer planning according to departmental and community policies.

  • Identify staff development needs of employees and make recommendations to DON, provide informal education to nursing employees as necessary.

  • Participate in continuing education programs to maintain competency and improve knowledge and skills.

  • Manage employee injuries when clinic staff is not present (weekdays after 5:00 p.m. and weekends).

  • Protect the privacy of residents and employees.

  • Observe WCCB protocol to prohibit and investigate allegations of abuse.

  • Represent WCCB and nursing services in professional and community activities as assigned.

  • Provide direction and guidance to security and front desk staff during medical emergencies.

  • Assume administrative call duty for nursing services as assigned.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Must be highly motivated, energetic and able to work both independently and under the direction of the Director of Nursing.

  • Multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and ability to prioritize.

  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment with little supervision.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate sound professional judgment.


Physical Requirements 



  • Able to climb or descend 5 flights of stairs.

  • Able to stand or walk for a period of at least 4 hours.

  • Perform other duties incidental to the work described herein.


The Experience You’ll Bring


Required



  • Active, unencumbered Virginia (or compact) RN license.

  • At Least three years of clinical experience with supervisory responsibility.

  • Possess strong computer skills and experience with health care applications, Microsoft and/or Google applications.

  • Must be proficient with all software applications.

  • Flu-Vaccinated.


Preferred



  • Experience working with an elderly population.

  • COVID-19 Vaccinated. As of now, the 2025–2026 COVID-19 vaccine formulation is being distributed to providers and pharmacies; however, it has not yet received official approval from the CDC. In Virginia, pharmacists may administer COVID-19 vaccines under the Virginia Board of Pharmacy’s statewide protocols or with a direct order from a licensed medical provider. We encourage all new hires to consult with their healthcare provider regarding the most current vaccination recommendations. Please be aware that, depending on future CDC guidance or regulatory updates, we may require proof of the most recent COVID-19 vaccination as part of our ongoing commitment to health and safety.

  • Compensation Range: $97,925 - $122,407/Yearly (based on relevant experience)
