Skillern Elementary Teacher

We have hired all positions for the 25-26 school year, but will receive applications for future hiring opportunities. 

We are seeking teachers with experience in classical and outdoor education integration, or who are willing to be trained and fully adapt to both. For budget purposes, teachers with 4 to 9 years of experience would fit best, but all applicants will be considered. Each year, we seek to fill available positions in the winter of the previous year, at which time we will begin teacher trainings one evening a month, although the employment period will not begin until August 1, 2025. Eight days of paid, mandatory professional development will take place during the previous summer.

Skillern Elementary is a tuition-free, public, charter school.  Salary and benefits are commensurate with nearby county schools, and we do provide potential for performance bonuses. Skillern boasts small class sizes and a healthy environment that incorporates plenty of time outdoors. Teachers at Skillern Elementary are hired based upon their intellectual accomplishments, moral seriousness, and skill in the art of teaching. We seek teachers who know and love the disciplines they teach, who understand and love children, who are able communicators and fine role models, and who are philosophically aligned with the mission of the school, both its classical and outdoor components. We seek to build a team of professional educators who will work together to improve the minds and form the character of the students.

Homeroom teachers must hold a current Tennessee teaching license. Applicants for Related Arts (Fine Arts and Embodied Arts) are not required to hold a teaching license. If you are seeking a related arts position, please indicate that interest in your cover letter.

Please make sure to indicate if you have ever been convicted, pled guilty, or pled nolo contendere to a criminal offense. The disclosure of a conviction does not automatically preclude you from employment with Ivy Academy's Skillern Elementary. However, falsification of your application may result in an offer of employment being withdrawn and/or preclude you from employment.
