Small Boat Mechanic

Position Summary:

Talent Source is looking for a skilled Small Boat Mechanic to maintain, repair, and upgrade propulsion systems and mechanical equipment on small boats and government craft. This role supports federal clients such as the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and other agencies requiring high-performance and reliable marine platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, repair, and maintain engines (inboard, outboard, diesel, and gasoline).


• Service propulsion systems, hydraulic components, pumps, valves, and piping systems.


• Perform diagnostics, tune-ups, and component replacements for optimal performance.


• Conduct mechanical system modifications and upgrades per technical documentation.


• Support integration of trailers, cradles, launch/recovery systems, and stowage equipment.


• Maintain accurate service records and participate in system testing and quality checks.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of experience as a marine mechanic or small boat technician.


• Strong knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting, engine diagnostics, and system repairs.


• Familiarity with military watercraft or government vessel systems is a plus.


• Ability to read mechanical drawings, installation manuals, and tech specs.


• High school diploma or GED required; vocational or military technical training preferred.


• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance.
