Small Business Community Development Officer (Bilingual/Spanish)

The SBCDO primary focus will be on small business lending. Candidate will be responsible for prospecting new relationships with loan sizes up to $250,000 (and $150,000 for credit lines) by utilizing personal network and leveraging our existing customer base to ensure a robust pipeline of lending opportunities. They will provide consultative services and focus on building long-term relationships with both deposit and loans products. Effectively demonstrate market knowledge and the skills necessary to lead ongoing business development efforts.

Provide collaboration and assistance to other areas of the bank (Retail / Commercial Areas) and foster excellent customer service. Position will be dependent on the ability to drive deposit generation, cash management sales and lending as require and maintain 60% of overall business be CRA eligible.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs any functions necessary, within scope of authority and expertise, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to customers and the community in which it serves.

  • Implements the above-mentioned plan designed to create recognition and awareness for BCSB across our markets and attract new small business and retail customers to the bank.
  • Identifies prospective small business and/or retail business prospects and notifies the appropriate individuals within the bank of new business potential. Must be knowledgeable in business, finance, banking, and recommend, and promote solutions that best serve the customer.
  • Maintain active involvement in organizations serving the LMI community in designated market and volunteer to be on a board or committee of a nonprofit.
  • Regularly conduct in-person calls with prospects, centers of influence (COIs), and existing customers at their places of business. Include assisting branch staff when necessary.
  • Makes sales calls with the branch manager and commercial or residential mortgage originators when appropriate relative to existing customers and identified prospects.
  • Deliver outstanding experience for our small business customers by providing comprehensive and customized business banking solutions that align with their financial needs and circumstances of their businesses.
  • Deliver financial education seminars within market.
  • Manage a pipeline of small business customers. Must have a track record of results, report on defined KPIs, communicate effectively across the organization and help provide valuable input as our business strategy evolves.
  • Protect the bank by adhering to solid risk management protocols and adhering to regulatory requirements


Qualifications:

  • Spanish speaking required
  • 1-3 years of experience in a business banking relationship management role or related business lending experience; direct in-person contact preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field or equivalent work experience strongly preferred
  • Strong communication skills with individuals at all levels, internally and externally
  • Understanding of core business products and services
  • General business experience and knowledge of business credit
  • Ability to build relationships with customers and internal departments
  • Ability to recognize an issue or problem and determine when to escalate or handle independently
  • Ability to determine and balance priorities on a daily basis to achieve business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility and follow through with commitment on customer issues.
  • Understanding of general business practices and how business needs vary by industry/market
  • Highly proficient in MS Office applications
  • Ability to travel occasionally for key business meetings and training
