Small Craft Operator Course Instructor

Company Overview:

GD Resources LLC is a certified MBE/SDVOSB company providing specialized staffing and technical support to federal and defense clients. We are seeking experienced maritime professionals to support a U.S. Navy training mission at Naval Base Ventura County.

Position Overview:

You will lead the instruction and evaluation of Navy personnel operating small craft vessels as part of the Underwater Construction Team Two (UCT-2) Small Craft Operator Course in Port Hueneme, CA. The training includes classroom instruction, pier-side exercises, and underway assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instruct Navy personnel on small craft handling, navigation, engineering, and mission execution.

• Lead day and night training using UCT-2 crafts (RIB, MERC, DS, and CRRC).

• Develop and deliver all instructional content, including:

  • Lesson plans

  • Student guides

  • Testing materials

  • Post-training reports

• Evaluate student performance via written, oral, and underway assessments.

• Comply with Navy high-risk training standards and safety protocols.

Required Qualifications:

• USCG Master’s License (100 Ton near coastal preferred)

• Qualified Small Craft Captain and Patrol Leader

• Navy/USCG Coxswain qualification (11M Willard RIB)

• NEC 9502 or equivalent instructor certification

• Certified 2nd Class Swimmer

• Active SECRET security clearance

• Clean NCIC background check

• Valid U.S. driver’s license

• CPR/First Aid certified (ARC/AHA)

• Normal color vision and physically fit for long periods on small crafts in varied conditions

Preferred Experience:

• Prior military training department experience

• Familiarity with Navy SOPs and high-risk safety protocols

• Experience teaching Train-to-Qualify programs

Compensation:

• Competitive hourly rate (based on experience and qualifications)

• Travel and per diem may be provided for non-local candidates

• SCA wage determination applies
