SMT Operator Pick and Place

Circuit Spring is seeking an experienced SMT Pick and Place Operator to support our printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) production. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience operating SMT equipment in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, quality-focused production setting. This role is focused on machine operation and production support.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate SMT pick and place machines to assemble printed circuit boards according to production schedules  
• Load feeders, components, and reels accurately and efficiently  
• Monitor machines during production runs and make basic operational adjustments as needed  
• Perform first-article and in-process inspections to ensure product quality  
• Work with solder paste printing and reflow processes as part of the SMT line  
• Identify and report defects, equipment issues, or process deviations  
• Utilize Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) systems to verify assembly quality (preferred)  
• Follow work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures  
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, technicians, and quality teams  
• Maintain a clean and organized work area  

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) and surface mount technology (SMT) 
• Proven experience operating SMT pick and place equipment 
• Programming experience not required 
• Familiarity with SMT components, feeders, and reels  
• Ability to read and follow assembly drawings, BOMs, and work instructions  
• Experience with AOI systems is preferred  
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality  
• Ability to stand for extended periods and handle small components  
• Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented  

Preferred Experience (Nice to Have)

• AOI operation and defect identification  
• Experience working in high-mix, low- to medium-volume production environments  
• IPC standards awareness (IPC-A-610 a plus)
