We thrive on collaboration, creativity, and a team-first mindset—and we value initiative and independent work. To excel here, bring the curiosity of a journalist, the strategy of a marketer, and a genuine love of science.

Three years of continuous residency in the U.S. for issuance of a Government Security credential

  • Report on performance (reach, engagement, click-throughs) and provide insights to optimize content.
  • Adapt writing styles across technical, journalistic, and creative formats to meet audience expectations.
  • Collaborate closely with the supervisor and teammates to identify priorities and content needs.
  • Ensure compliance with plain-language best practices and USGS digital standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Create original content and have an eye for visual storytelling (images, graphics, short-form video).
  • Experience managing content across platforms (e.g., X, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) to meet audience expectations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and social media tools; experience with analytics is preferred.
  • An appreciation for Earth sciences and familiarity with Landsat or remote sensing is a plus.

Key Competencies

  • Audience-centered storytelling
  • Platform-specific strategy and optimization
  • Clear, concise, and accessible writing
  • Visual judgment and brand consistency
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
