Job Description - Social Performance Specialist

Where You Will Work   


Our rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas, is a key contributor to our ranking as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of continuous cast copper rod – a main material used in the manufacturing of wire and cable products. The refinery has the potential to operate at an annual production capacity of about 900 million pounds of copper cathode, which is sufficient to refine all the copper anode we produce at our Miami operations in Arizona. The refinery also produces nickel carbonate, copper telluride and autoclaved slimes material containing gold, silver, platinum and palladium.  


 


The beautiful city of El Paso features three universities, many community colleges and numerous schools. Some popular attractions include the International Museum of Art, National Border Patrol Museum and Franklin Mountain State Park. There are many shopping centers, parks, hiking trails and numerous restaurants for our employees and their families to enjoy.   


What You Will Do


  • Communication, Special Events and Reporting – Assist in drafting key messages to stakeholders (internal and external), manage and attend company-sponsored community events on behalf of the operation, collect data and contribute to information and case studies for annual reporting and other related tasks as assigned.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Support the annual stakeholder analysis process, including capturing interactions, action plans and engagement plans into the Enablon tool, arranging and/or facilitate meetings, supporting formal engagement processes such as Community Partnership Panels, drafting agendas, documenting meetings, posting notes, etc., and supporting the Grievance Management System.

  • Social Investment – Serve as the primary intake for site investments, local donation requests and contribution receipts, evaluate and make recommendations to CD manager on a scheduled basis; ensure program materials are up to date and accessible; evaluate grant proposals and help coordinate formal processes such as Community Investment Funds, including Committee member training, preparation for scoring, interviews and review, etc.

  • Employee Engagement – Facilitate the development and growth of the company-wide employee engagement program at the designated site(s), including event management and administration for company-sponsored site activities (i.e. chamber events, galas, festivals, parades, etc.), the planning of volunteer events such as Global Volunteer Month, promotion of company programs such as Employee Matching Gifts and the Annual United Way Campaign, and other employee programs.

  • Internal Business Coordination – Support and participate in the internal SD risk evaluation and management processes, including the identification of social risks and Site Social Performance Plan, as well as supporting /participating in interface with other departments/functions needed to manage overlapping risks; assist in maintaining and updating key documents in the process and support the preparation of materials for the social aspects of Assurance. Support key administrative tasks as needed to ensure proper tracking and reporting.


What You Bring To Freeport


  • Master’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and one (1) year direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and three (3) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR

  • Associate’s degree in Community or Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Social Work, or related discipline and five (5) years direct experience in one or more or the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field OR

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least seven (7) years direct experience in one or more of the following: community relations, philanthropic giving, communications, public relations or nonprofit management or related function/field

What We Offer You 


The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $75,000 - $104,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.   • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
