Software Developer (Java Backend)

We are seeking a skilled Software Developer to support a global pharmaceutical company in Prague by enhancing a scientific application used by chemists and researchers for recording reaction conditions and experimental outcomes in high-throughput chemistry environments.

The primary focus of this role is the development of multi-step peptide synthesis support and scalable backend capabilities for advanced scientific workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and extend an existing scientific platform supporting peptide synthesis workflows
  


• Design and implement features capturing reaction conditions, intermediate steps, and experiment outcomes
  


• Collaborate with scientists and researchers to transform laboratory workflows into scalable technical solutions
  


• Build and optimize backend services and APIs for high-performance data processing
  


• Ensure data integrity, traceability, and auditability of scientific records
  


• Integrate new features with existing systems and databases
  


• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs
  


• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  


• Perform testing, debugging, and performance optimization
  


• Participate in code reviews and GitHub-based collaboration
  


• Support deployment and maintenance within cloud environments
  

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java
  


• Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
  


• Strong experience with REST API development and integration
  


• Solid knowledge of Oracle Database and SQL
  


• Experience with AWS cloud platforms
  


• Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments
  


• Proficiency with GitHub
  


• Strong understanding of backend architecture and microservices
  


• Experience working with complex data models and workflows
  

Nice to Have

• Experience in scientific, laboratory, or pharmaceutical systems
  


• Familiarity with cheminformatics or experimental workflow platforms
