Job Description - Software Engineer

We are seeking a self‑starting, detail‑oriented Software Engineer to assist with and coordinate multiple concurrent software integration activities, ensuring new and existing applications interoperate reliably across distributed systems and vendor boundaries. The role combines requirements analysis, specification development, vendor liaison, and dashboard development to provide end‑to‑end visibility of networked interfaces and system performance. This is an in-person position in California, Maryland.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Plan, coordinate, and track multiple software integration efforts simultaneously, from project kickoff through acceptance and sustainment.
Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, document, and maintain functional and non‑functional requirements; ensure requirements are testable and traceable.
Draft, review, and validate interface and performance specifications; oversee verification and validation activities to confirm compliance.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for third‑party and open‑source software vendors; facilitate adoption of emerging data‑exchange and interoperability standards.
Design, develop, deploy, and maintain software dashboards that report on network reliability, interface uptime, message throughput, latency, and other operations‑center metrics; provide full life‑cycle support and continuous improvement.
Recommend and implement best practices for integration workflows, configuration management, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).

Requirements

5+ years of experience in software engineering or systems integration within distributed or real‑time environments
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math-related field
Active Security+ certification
Active Secret security clearance – U.S. Citizenship is required
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple integration projects and coordinate cross‑functional teams.
Experience developing operational dashboards using common observability stacks (e.g., Grafana/Prometheus, ELK/Kibana, or equivalent)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation and vendor correspondence

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of data‑centric publish/subscribe middleware such as RTI Connext DDS, OpenDDS, or Open Mission Systems (OMS) messaging standards.
Familiarity with additional message buses or streaming technologies (e.g., MQTT, ZeroMQ, gRPC).
Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
Prior exposure to network operations center (NOC) environments, including monitoring of QoS, latency, and fault isolation metrics.
Knowledge of DoD or other regulated development standards, STIGs, or NIST 800‑53 compliance.
Active TS/SCI security clearance

This position has an annual salary range of $100,000 to $135,000 based on annualized USD. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and education and in consideration of internal pay equality.
