Troubleshoots issues with existing hydraulic and/or electronic test systems and works with other disciplines to resolve issues.
Seeks to understand test systems at a system level to be able to apply control solutions to meet operation requirements for automation.
Designs, develops, documents, tests and/or debugs software components of diverse scope and complexity to ultimately control a hydraulic stand for testing aircraft components.
Develops and validates software requirements and designs.
Assures efficient program logic and data manipulation with generally accepted programming standards and techniques.
Develops and implements highly complex software systems or system components by applying specifications, naming conventions, and syntax.
Modifies existing software to meet user requests by determining most expedient and efficient methods of applying a modification into a pre-existing system. Documents system alterations and additions by preparing comprehensive descriptions and diagrams.
Confers with program and/or system users to identify and evaluate design requirements, program changes, and to identify problems.
Represents company on specific projects. Prepares and conducts technical presentations on selected topics. May train or mentor newer employees and contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional or project team responsibilities (e.g. continuous improvement).
Education
Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1-3 years of experience strongly preferred,
Knowledge of software design, programming and analysis principles.
Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement techniques and methods.
Ability to work within general work objectives regarding projects and team goals.
Ability to work on a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity where analysis and evaluation of various outcomes require tradeoffs; solves a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways.
Ability to communicate effectively with users, project teams, and management.
Ability to respond to significant inquiries from users.
Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self-development activities.
Other Skills:
Development of real-time, embedded, safety-critical software
Experience with various software languages (e.g. C++, C#, Python)
Experience with software configuration management tools (e.g. MKS, PLM)
Software requirements definition and documentation (e.g. DOORS)
Knowledge of hydraulic system components and controls
Experience following a defined process to satisfy Quality Assurance standards
Experience with model-based development (e.g. SCADE)
Digital data bus software design experience
Experience working with microcontrollers/DSPs at a peripheral registry access level
Define development/verification planning for embedded software, per DO-178C
Coordinate with team members on DO-178C verification guidelines, as applicable to embedded software.
