Software Engineering Manager

Fulltime Position
Hybrid - 2 days a week onsite in Rosemont office

Our client is actively seeking a Software Engineering Manager who will lead and manage our web development team, focusing on the comprehensive development and management of the company’s external facing websites. This pivotal role involves not just an understanding of web architecture and development technologies such as HTML/CSS, JavaScript, Sitecore CMS, NextJs, and Tailwind, but also proficiency in .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.

As a Web Technical Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, creation, development, testing, and support of websites. Your role extends beyond the technical aspects, demanding strong leadership in project management and team dynamics. You will guide a team of 3 to 5 developers, ensuring seamless process flows and interfaces for content delivery and external services, while fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.

Responsibilities:
Comprehensive Web Development:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of website development, ensuring alignment with business goals and user needs. Provide strategic direction and review for website design, development, testing, and support processes.
Manage and coordinate all processes, data flows, and interfaces that contribute to the content and services on websites, ensuring optimal efficiency and effectiveness.
Technical Leadership and Development:
Lead the strategy for custom web application development, focusing on .NET Framework, C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET, SQL Server, and other advanced Microsoft technologies. Ensure the team's adherence to best practices in software development.
Develop a comprehensive training and support program for web programmer, enhancing their skills in web services management and fostering continuous professional development.
Usability Analysis and UI Development:
Direct usability analysis for all websites, ensuring they meet the needs of members and business constituents effectively. Establish usability metrics and regular review processes.
Collaborate closely with business managers to ensure UI development aligns with business objectives. Provide strategic oversight for UI/UX design processes, integrating user feedback and business requirements.
Team Leadership and Mentorship:
Lead and mentor a team of developers, nurturing a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Set clear goals, performance metrics, and provide regular feedback.
Offer high-level technical guidance and share expertise in advanced web development technologies and methodologies. Facilitate knowledge sharing and encourage adoption of new technologies and best practices in the team.

Qualifications:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Communication and Leadership Skills:
o Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
o Strong leadership and team management skills, with a proven ability to mentor and inspire a team of developers.
Strategic Technical Understanding:
o Comprehensive understanding of responsive design principles and experience in delivering multi-platform solutions.
o Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and execution of scalable and complex web solutions.
Experience in Technical and Team Leadership:
o At least 7 years of experience in a technical leadership or managerial role in web development.
o A total of 10+ years of experience in web development, including a strong foundation in Microsoft technologies and full-stack development.
o Experience in leading full software development lifecycle projects for enterprise-class applications.
Technical Expertise:
o Advanced skills in .NET Framework, C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server.
o Proficiency in front-end technologies including HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, NextJs, Bootstrap, Tailwind.
o Experience with REST and GraphQL APIs.
o Knowledge of QA and testing procedures.
Development Methodologies:
o 7+ years of demonstrated strong knowledge and proficiency in object-oriented development.
o Experience in implementing and overseeing Agile development methodologies.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
o Certifications in project management and Agile methodologies (e.g., PMP, Scrum Master).
