The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. Description of Work

Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU) is within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction and is responsible for identifying appropriate security goals, objectives, standards, and strategies and technologies used. SOIU also collaborates with Prisons and Community Supervision staff and oversees the collection, analysis and sharing of intelligence information.

Reporting to the Telecommunicator Assistant Manager in the SOIU Communications Center, this position serves as a shift supervisor, supervising SOIU Telecommunicators on an assigned shift.

This position is assigned to NC Department of Adult Correction, Special Operations and Intelligence Unit (SOIU) and is located at the Yonkers Road Complex in Raleigh, NC. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

There was an update to the Salary Range Effective February 1,2026. The new salary range is $35,596.00- $62.294.00 Annually.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Current DCI Certification

Minimum Education and Experience

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience as a telecommunicator

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Must meet the applicable education, employment, and training standards as required to be Department of Criminal Information (DCI) certified; must be DCI certified or become certified within 120 days of employment.
