Job Description - Solution Engineer APAC

Transforming global food systems is key to tackling the climate crisis and protecting people and the planet. We believe a new and different type of transparency is needed to drive that change.

That is why we built OpenSC - co-founded by WWF and The Boston Consulting Group.

Our platform uses data directly from the source of our customer’s supply chains and analyses it to create direct actionable insights about sustainable & ethical production.

Automated - Continuous - Granular - Immutable

This new type of transparency enables our customers to know, influence, and prove the sustainability of their supply chains.

Programming languages: Python
Exploratory Data Analysis: Jupyter Notebooks, visualisation libraries (e.g. plotly)
Data Management: SQL, S3, RDS
Cloud: AWS
Containerization: Docker (pre-configured containers ready to go)
Data Pipeline Orchestration: Dagster, Airflow

Note: We value understanding of fundamental concepts like data modelling, ETL processes, API design, and cloud architecture over specific tool experience. If you're familiar with similar technologies, you'll pick up our stack quickly!

We are hiring for a Solution Engineer to join our team and help bridge the gap between technical implementation and business outcomes. In this role you will collaborate with customers, transforming their sustainability goals into actionable solutions through cutting-edge technology. You will work closely on the following topics:

Support the business interpretation of data and assist your team with data analysis and visualisation tasks.
Implement scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and extract insights from raw supply chain data.
Support technical engagement during implementations through collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Project Managers and Strategic Designers.
Participate in requirements gathering with customers, and architect solutions that align with their sustainability objectives.
Support implementation of robust ETL processes to handle diverse data sources.
Contribute to developing internal tools and frameworks that enhance efficiency and scalability, working in partnership with our product and tech teams in Europe.

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
Experience as a Technical Solution Engineer, Data Engineer, Software Developer or related field.
Strong coding skills with a focus on Python, plus familiarity with another object oriented language is a nice to have.
Solid SQL expertise and database management.
Exposure to designing data pipelines using modern orchestration tools like Dagster, Airflow, or similar.
Familiarity with data modelling tools like DBT (nice to have – if not, we'll teach you!).
Practical cloud platform experience with AWS or other cloud providers.
Proficiency with Jira, Git and modern development practices – we're big on pair programming and code reviews.
Strong people and communication skills for navigating technical discussions with customers.
A curious and collaborative attitude.
A genuine passion for sustainability and ethical production.
Candidates must be based in Australia.
