Position Summary:
The Sonographer II functions as a healthcare provider working under the delegated authority of the supervising physician. This role serves as a medical imaging professional, providing clinically relevant information to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Responsibilities include delivering diagnostic medical sonography services across cardiac and peripheral vascular specialties. All activities are performed consistent with education, training, Phoenix Heart, PLLC policies and procedures, and applicable professional standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Perform cardiac and peripheral vascular sonography with extensive education, training, and clinical expertise.
· Apply independent professional and ethical judgment to ensure accurate anatomical, pathological, and clinical imaging; complete required measurements, documentation, and technical findings.
· Maintain accuracy of practice reports, database records, and logs.
· Provide patient services consistent with the Scope of Practice and Clinical Standards for Diagnostic Sonographers.
· Ensure proper patient positioning, safe use of scanning equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient safety and sonographer health.
· Monitor, maintain, and report errors or malfunctions of equipment; escalate issues to management.
· Adhere to all professional, ethical, confidentiality, and compliance standards, including HIPAA, infection control, and safety protocols.
· Assist with practice accreditations and quality assurance projects as required.
Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, including physicians, sonographers, and other allied health professionals
Qualifications – Desired Skills and Experience:
· Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasound.
· Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) in specialty area(s).
· Demonstrated technical competence in performing specialty sonography studies.
· Maintains required CME credits and a current CPR card.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Ability to mentor, support, and collaborate with other sonography staff and healthcare professionals.
· Compliance with infection control, OSHA standards, and practice safety protocols.
