Sonographer

Full-Time, Regular position | Schedule: 5, 8-hour shifts, Mon-Fri with the option for 4, 10-hour weekday shifts | Pay: Hourly, starting between $29-$35 per hour, depending on experience

Job Purpose or Objective(s): The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment to perform and communicate results of diagnostic ultrasound examinations and to assist Radiologists and Specialty Providers with invasive ultrasound‑guided procedures.

Primary Tasks:

1. Independently operate sonographic equipment and perform diagnostic examinations as ordered by the physician, following departmental protocols to produce accurate, high-quality diagnostic images.
2. Provide developmentally appropriate patient care and comfort measures during sonographic examinations for all patient populations.
3. Integrate diagnostic sonograms, comparative imaging, patient history, and medical records and modify examination techniques as needed to ensure diagnostic image quality.
4. Communicate effectively with Radiologists and Mammography departments to support comparative imaging and appropriate interpretation of examination results.
5. Assist Radiologists and Specialty Providers with ultrasound-guided invasive procedures, including thyroid and breast procedures, as required.
6. Identify and resolve patient care issues by making appropriate clinical decisions in a timely and professional manner.
7. Perform high-level disinfection and cleaning of probes and equipment in accordance with infection prevention standards and departmental procedures.
8. Maintain sonography equipment and supplies by monitoring functionality, reporting issues to vendors or internal contacts, and ensuring adequate resources for patient care.
9. Participate in department accreditation and quality activities to support regulatory and compliance standards.

10. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

     

Required Education and experience:

• Associate degree in health or business-related field
• Graduate of an approved Sonography program
• Completion of SPI exam
• Completion of secondary certification (e.g. AB, OB/GYN, BR) within 12 months of employment.
• Certified by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• One [1] year of directly related experience
