Sort Technician

We are looking for a Sort Technician to help us meet safety, quality, housekeeping, and distribution goals. As a Trex Sort Technician, you’ll be responsible for sorting contamination and other debris from usable plastic, to use in the manufacturing process of our decking boards. This role is key member of our Logistics team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cut and remove baling wire from contaminated plastic bales.


• Remove contamination and other debris from the usable plastic along a conveyor belt.


• Demonstrate punctual and regular attendance and be able to work overtime as required.


• Willingness to become forklift certified.


• Assist in loading usable plastic into baler.


• Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.


• Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner following prescribed work methods.


• Knowledge of lock out/tag out.


• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Conduct operations in a manner that promotes safety. Comply with OSHA and SDS Standards.


• Participate in monthly inventory counts.


• Perform housekeeping duties.


• Participate in Polyco-related project teams.


• Assist in baler preventative maintenance.


• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, attention to detail, strong communication and customer service skills, and English proficiency. Key competencies include effective verbal and written communication, teamwork, time management, and priority setting to focus on critical tasks and foster collaboration.
