Position Summary:
This position is responsible for overseeing the strategic development and execution of product categories for direct or indirect procurement. This leader of people and categories is focused on value and goal-based objectives for their categories and will lead their team of cross-functional associates to ensure that they are managing all supplier engagement, development, and continuous improvement. This will include managing all sourcing, contracting, supplier management, quality, and other procurement activities for their categories.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Lead cross functional team to develop best in class strategic procurement activities for assigned categories in support of business objectives.
Drive supplier performance management strategies, which include spend/supply assessments, consolidation strategy, supplier selection and financial analysis.
Execute overall performance management tactics, including leading supplier performance reviews, to ensure operational execution for all suppliers within the categories.
Obtain and communicate market condition information, commercial opportunities, category strategy updates, risk assessment project status, risk assessment updates, active RFQ’s, and technology trend to commodities and suppliers.
Work with cross-functional teams to design sourcing strategies, identify, and evaluate potential suppliers, and negotiate supply agreements.
Drive cost savings within each assigned spend category.
Drive continuous high quality and technical continuous improvement within each assigned spec category.
Establish and maintain exceptional relationships with suppliers, while ensuring that all interactions are conducted with the highest level of ethics/integrity.
Negotiate purchase/supply/service agreements. Lead supplier negotiations, with an approach that is consistent with Swagelok’s values, while achieving Swagelok’s business objectives and risk management expectations.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve major supplier performance reliability, relationships, and technical issues.
Ensure team’s familiarity and adherence to Global Sourcing and Supplier Management System policies and procedures.
Drive the timely completion of supplier corrective action request and reviews and approves final documentation submitted for closure.
Recruit, motivate, and help to develop a professional, high performing sourcing staff.
Approximate # of direct reports (if applicable) – 6-8 Direct Reports
Budget responsibility (if applicable) – $70m+ annual spend for assigned team categories
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required:
A bachelor’s degree; Preferred in Supply Chain, Engineering or other relevant area of focus
5+ years of operations, engineering and/or sourcing experience including experience with complex, high impact business negotiations; Preferred 1+ years of supervisor/management experience
Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills are required.
