Job Description - Sous Chef





Salaried Position | Approx. 50 Hours per Week

Position Overview


We are a growing, family-owned restaurant just east of Wichita, KS, seeking an experienced Sous Chef with a background in structured or corporate kitchen environments. This role is critical to maintaining consistency, quality, and operational discipline in our kitchen.


The ideal candidate is confident enforcing policies, following systems, and holding standards—while still working collaboratively in a close-knit, guest-focused operation.


You will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with both the GM and our Customer Experience Lead to ensure exceptional food quality, fast service, and smooth kitchen operations.


What You’ll Do



  • Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations during peak business hours

  • Enforce recipes, practices, portioning, and food quality standards consistently

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and health regulations

  • Train, coach, and supervise all kitchen staff, as well as holding staff accountable to performance expectations

  • Maintain prep schedules, production flow, and ticket-time efficiency

  • Partner with the General Manager on staffing, scheduling, and performance issues

  • Coordinate with the Customer Experience Lead to support overall guest satisfaction

  • Identify operational gaps and help implement structured solutions


What We’re Looking For



  • Previous experience as a Kitchen Manager, BOH Manager, or similar leadership role

  • Background in well-run, systemized kitchen environments preferred

  • Strong ability to follow and enforce established policies and procedures

  • Detail-oriented with high expectations for food quality and consistency

  • Confident leader who can address performance issues directly and professionally

  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, and other peak service periods

  • Able to manage a fast-paced kitchen while maintaining standards

  • Upscale dining experience preferred
