Job Description - SOX Manager

Responsibilities

 


    Manage, develop, and support the professional growth and well-being of the SOX audit team
    Perform staff performance reviews to determine developmental needs and actions or reward high performance
    Coordinate and supervise daily activities of the SOX audit team; set priorities for and coach SOX audit team
    In and through the SOX audit team, conduct the annual financial statement risk assessment and scoping exercise to determine strategic focus of management’s annual ICFR program for SOX 404(a) compliance
    Perform quality reviews and approve key control design, operating effectiveness, and ICFR issue remediation testing
    Communicate ICFR issues to management and collaborate with management on action plans to remediate deficiencies 
    Review all operational audit issues and critically assess for ICFR relevancy and need to add to the ICFR issue listing
    Maintain the ICFR issues list including continuous assessment of significance
    In and through the SOX audit team, stay abreast of SOX 404(a) assessment progress and ICFR issue status and update the Director, Corporate Audit Services, Chief Accounting Officer/delegates, and PwC routinely
    Coordinate with external auditors on testing reliance, sampling approach, and timeline
    Contribute to Corporate Audit Service’s report out to the Audit Committee on SOX 404(a) assessment status 
    Review and oversee internal SOX 404(a) assessment policies and procedures through a strategic lens focusing on results and meeting control objectives efficiently and effectively 
    Oversee SOX auditor onboarding and training program
    Act as Subject Mater Expert on SOX 404(a) compliance and lead training activities with functional process owners
    Stay updated on changes in regulatory requirements and industry best practices related to SOX compliance
    Provide guidance and recommendations to management for process and control improvements and risk mitigation

Qualifications

 


    Solid interpersonal skills including verbal and written communications, listening and interviewing
    Strong attention to detail
    Knowledge of business processes (including financial and/or IT) 
    Strong time management, organization, analytical skills and problem solving
    Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint


    4+ years of experience in a corporate environment
    Supervisor skills and ability to work well in a team environment preferred
    Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, COSO, COBIT, The IIA Standards desired
    2-3 year’s audit and/or SOX experience preferred 
    SAP experience preferred
    Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Accounting, or business-related preferred)
