As a Spacecraft Propulsion Subsystem Engineer - Level 3/4 located in Redondo Beach, CA, you\u2019ll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one.\n\nThe Thermal, Propulsion \u0026 Cryocooler Systems (TPCS) department, part of the Western Region Vehicle Engineering organization, is comprised of approximately 75 highly skilled professionals, ranging from early-career engineers to senior chief engineers and leadership. We provide various engagement opportunities\u2014such as lunch-and-learns, career development events, and networking mixers\u2014to help you grow your career while fostering inclusion and teamwork.\n\nAs a Spacecraft Propulsion Subsystem Engineer, you will play a critical role in guiding the propulsion subsystem from conceptual design and analysis through build and delivery. \n\n\nResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:\n\n * Developing propulsion subsystem and component requirements and performing requirement verification.\n * Overseeing the selection and procurement of fluid components.\n * Conducting fluid mechanics analyses and scoping, bounding, and reviewing additional analyses related to combustion, aerodynamics, thermal properties, and stress.\n * Guiding mechanical design efforts and supervising manufacturing operations and hot-fire testing of flight hardware.\n * Interfacing with IPT leadership and suppliers.\n * Supporting issue resolution to ensure system/component performance and delivery.\n * Assisting with propulsion subsystem tests.\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\n * Spacecraft Propulsion Subsystem Engineer - Level 3: 5 years of propulsion or related engineering experience with Bachelors in STEM; 3 years of stated experience with Masters in STEM; 1 year of stated experience with PhD in STEM\n * Spacecraft Propulsion Subsystem Engineer - Level 4: 8 years of propulsion or related engineering experience with Bachelors in STEM; 6 years of stated experience with Masters in STEM; 4 years of stated experience with PhD in STEM\n * Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret and SCI clearances\n * Experience with monopropellant or bipropellant spacecraft propulsion systems\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n * Active DoD Top Secret clearance and/or active SCI clearance\n * Experience developing and verifying requirements for propulsion subsystems\n * Experience performing propulsion subsystem fluid analyses\n * Experience performing design reviews with internal and external customers\n * Experience working with hypergolic propellants\n * Experience with spacecraft propulsion component hardware procurement and supply chain operations\n * Experience writing test plans for propulsion subsystem and thruster testing\n * Experience designing, building, and testing combustion devices\n\n\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
