Job Description - Special Account Representative II

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Oak Ridge (221 S. Rutgers Avenue Oak Ridge, TN 37830). The deadline to apply for this opportunity is January 29, 2026. 


Role: Responsible for facilitating a variety of tasks related to complex member accounts including deceased member accounts, estate accounts, trust accounts, accounts with a Power of Attorney, and digital account opening. Works with legal counsel and maintains direct member contact to facilitate account openings and/or changes.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Works with members, personal representatives, and joint account owners to address account needs. Performs daily digital account opening, ensuring the queue is worked regularly and members receive timely service. Confirms eligibility for new account opening and properly authenticates digital applications.   

  • Provides accurate and timely information to employees and members by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information received from a variety of channels including legal documents. This includes reviewing Power of Attorneys and Trust documents and Deceased accounts. Participates in loss prevention by employing strategies that provide adequate protection for the credit union with respect to its interest in a collateral secured loan. Contacts each applicable department to ensure timely revocation of services/cards, protect assets, and file claims.

  • Communicates with senior leadership and legal counsel as needed to advise on complex account situations. Performs other job-related duties as requested. 


Experience: Three or more years of experience in a financial institution is required.  One or more years of experience in Operations or Finance within a Credit Union environment is preferred.


Education: High School diploma or GED is required.  An Associates degree in a business related field is preferred.  A paralegal certificate is preferred.


Other skills required:



  • Ability to analyze various data points and systems

  • Ability to balance workload, prioritize and multi-task throughout the workday

  • Must have strong computer skills with the ability to utilize various applications via desktop, tablet and mobile

  • Must be self motivated, with the ability to think independently and make independent decisions

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft 365
