Special Education Elementary School Teacher

The Special Education Elementary School Teacher will report to the Principal and will complete but is not limited to the following duties:

• Assuming responsibility for the instruction of assigned students in the designated subject matter area by New Jersey Core Curriculum content standards and the school,
• Consulting with various levels of administrative staff, learning consultants, students, parents, and others as necessary,
• Remaining current with new developments in subject matter content, teaching methods, instructional strategies, educational technology, and educational research in assigned areas,
• Working with the educational team where the teacher will establish instructional objectives for each student that are consistent with the school's mission, philosophy, and vision.
• Presenting and explaining learning materials and educating students on new subjects.
• Communicating their subject matter by using lectures, and printed, visual, audio, and/or video materials.
• Educating the class and ensuring success, maintaining a positive attitude, being energetic about the subjects they teach, and sharing a passion for learning themselves.
• Developing lesson plans and materials, adapting curriculum, and planning a program of study to meet the individuals' needs, interests, diversified skill sets, and abilities of each student,
• Establishing standards of student behavior and maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner to achieve a classroom environment that is conducive to learning,
• Assessing on an ongoing basis the accomplishments of students, maintaining student records, attending IEP as well as all other meetings and providing progress reports as required,

• Bachelor's Degree in a required field
• Valid NJ Special Education Teaching Certification and other related areas as required
• Experience working with kids with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
