Job Description - Special Education Teacher, Preschool - Generous Compensation

Summary

Provide Special Education supports to children in a special class in New Rochelle, NY. Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and adapt to meet the needs of children with special needs as per IEP goals. Utilize the Teaching Strategies Gold to create weekly lessons plans to support learning in all developmental domains. Utilize Second Step and Pyramid Model practices to support positive social-emotional skill development. Familiarity with children on the autism spectrum and planning discrete trials is preferred. Responsible for writing quarterly, regression and annual progress reports. Communicate with related service providers and families frequently. Participate in team and annual review meetings. Supervise Teaching Assistants. Mandated reporter. Required to continue professional development including 30 hrs training for OCFS every two years.

Requirements

NYS Certification, Students with Disabilities (B-2), or documented plan to attain certification.

This job requires working with young children in a school setting. This position requires working with young children who may need help with self-help skills including toileting/diapering, lifting up to 50 pounds, running, etc. These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to perform the job's essential functions successfully.
